Wonderful places to visit in South Tyrol
A city to visit during your experience in South Tyrol is undoubtedly Bolzano. The capital of South Tyrol hosts the Archaeological Museum where you can admire the famous mummy nicknamed Ötzi, the "Iceman", and the Museion, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. For nature lovers we recommend a trip along the Brandis canal, which runs on the sunny slope above Lana, leading up to a picturesque waterfall. Just above Merano, you can see the Haflinger horses up close and go on a pleasant horse and buggy ride or horseback riding organized by the various farms with stables. Another lovely place to visit in South Tyrol is the Lake of Monticolo, located just outside of Bolzano, which includes the Lago Grande (Great Lake) with a complex of bathing facilities surrounded by nature, and Lago Piccolo (Small Lake), situated in a completely wooded valley. Caldaro Lake is also worth a trip, the largest swimming lake in South Tyrol and the warmest in the entire Alps.
