The Schmid Family
Villa Eden was built around the turn of the century and was once the summer home of a wealthy Dutch family. In the 1970s the art nouveau villa was converted into a gourmet restaurant and was well known throughout the region as a culinary center.
In 1976 the already renown and successful entrepreneur Karl Schmid bought the estate and realized his lifelong dream of opening a relaxing spa for guests from all over the world. Thus the idea of today's health and beauty resort was born.
The eldest daughter Brigitte ran Villa Eden until 1989, when she and her husband relocated to Africa for business reasons.
From November 1993 to the present the wellness resort has been in the skilled hands of the youngest daughter Angelika, who took on this challenge with élan and engagement.
She was the one who founded the Villa Eden scientific committee and combined philosophy with the newest findings in medicine. It is for this reason that Villa Eden is one of leading wellness hotels in all of Europe.
