Breast enlargement
Breast enlargement is the aesthetic operation most requested by women.
On the whole a breast enlargement is a relatively low risk procedure with a high degree of efficiency and security. The ability to breastfeed is not limited by breast implants. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and requires a overnight hospital stay.Generally speaking the procedure is performed as follows:
The incision is located either in the lower crevasse of the breast, on the edge of the areola, or in the armpit. Through the incision the implant site is prepared, which is located either under the mammary glands (subglandular) or under behind the breast tissue (submuscular). The majority of plastic surgeons prefer the submuscular implant site because muscle tissue guarantees better concealment of the implant. The scar tissue is usually very subtle.
The ideal age: Only after the age of 18, at which time the female breast is fully matured.
Postoperative care: After the procedure the wearing of a stiff brassiere in order to protect the breast is recommended for a period of one month. Although the success of the operation is visible shortly after the procedure, is still takes approximately four months to reach the desired result.
Risks: Unattractive scars can be treated with a laser. Further, "wrinkling" may occur. This is caused by wrinkles and wavy patterns on the silicon cushion, which may become visible through thin outer tissue layers. The most frequent problem with an implant after a breast enlargement is capsular fibrosis. The body recognizes each implant as a foreign body and produces a capsule of connective tissue around this foreign body. Capsular fibroids that lead to pain or an aesthetic disadvantage must be corrected surgically.
Note: At the beginning the scar is red and rigid; after a few months the scar becomes paler and blends in with the surrounding skin. Avoid exposing the scar to direct sunlight during the first six months following the procedure.
