What to do in Merano and surroundings
Between nature and cultural attractions
The many activities are as multifaceted as Merano itself, the South Tyrolean city blending Mediterranean warmth with Alpine allure, where flora flourishes and history echoes through the streets. Stroll and marvel: among the porticoes and buildings of the Belle Époque, in museums or trendy boutiques, along the vineyards or across mountain trails. Merano will capture your heart.
From the Tappeiner walks to the Sissi path, from the Lungo Passirio walk to the Gilf Promenade, to higher altitude excursions in the Merano 2000 area: so many beautiful itineraries wind their way around VILLA EDEN.
Three cycling paths start from Merano: one towards Malles in Val Venosta, one that reaches Bolzano and one up to San Leonardo in Val Passiria. Pedal through vineyards, apple orchards and alpine natural landscapes, enjoying the view as you go.
The 18-hole Passiria.Merano Golf Club and the 9-hole Tenuta Brandis di Lana course are located near VILLA EDEN. Both courses enjoy a lengthy season, stretching from March to December, thanks to the area's mild climate.
The historic centre, with its characteristic medieval arcades, is the realm of shopping, with elegant fashion boutiques and traditional craft shops. In winter, don’t miss the evocative Christmas markets.
Choose from the charming cafés in the centre to the bars along the Passeria where you can enjoy an aperitif with a view of the unmistakable dome of the Kurhaus. We also recommend a guided tour and tasting at our Castel Rametz family wine estate.
Merano captivates with its elegant Art Nouveau buildings, with the imposing bell tower of the Cathedral, with the iconic Ponte della Post. The museums and castles are also worth a visit, such as the Prince’s Castle or the Touriseum, the interactive museum of tourism.
